Dear Reader,
Welcome to this website to accompany the novel Buddy, the story of a New Orleans boy, his three-legged dog, and Hurricane Katrina. The purpose of this website is to provide lots of information about those three subjects—all fascinating and many faceted. In creating the website, I had to make a lot of decisions about what to include because including everything is simply impossible! However, resources are everywhere for you to go much deeper and broader than I have here on the website.
Gathering all this information made me deeply appreciate all the writers, thinkers, scholars, bloggers, and others who put what they know in places where the rest of us can read it! Be sure to check out the “Credits” tab on this website. That is where I listed dozens of sources, sources that you also can use when you do further research.
Writing a book or preparing a website is a lot like rebuilding after a storm. You need a lot of help.
