Grouper

Different species of grouper appear all over the world.  They are a favorite fish for both anglers and diners.  As hunters themselves, they lie in wait and suck in their food whole.  The fish can get quite large.  Grouper over three feet long are not uncommon.  One diver even once reported seeing a twenty-foot grouper.  In January 2008, a grouper weighing almost 400 pounds was caught in the Straits of Malacca.  Grouper young are mostly female.  As they mature, some of them change to male.
