Dove By Robin Lee Graham

In 1965, Robin Lee Graham set out to sail around the world alone.  He was just sixteen when he left Southern California with only two kittens for company.  His boat was a twenty-four foot sloop named Dove.  The voyage took five years and covered 33,000 miles.  In 1972, Graham published a book about his adventures.  The book is called Dove just like the boat.

In Dove, Graham explains that he had loved to sail since he was a small boy and that sailing gave him the chance to be alone and free.  He tells of loneliness that comes close to madness, of demastings and storms, and of joys “no man deserves this side of heaven.”

After Graham returned to dry land, he and his wife settled in Montana.
